It's been discussed in many entries here that producing better content for your website will make it more popular with users and search engines (see Content is vital for search engine optimisation (SEO) but never copy it from somewhere else!). We've put together five essential tips to help you improve the content on your website:

1. Keep it clear. As with everything else on your website the goal with the content that you write is to draw the user in. Make sure what you've written makes sense and will appeal both to someone new to your business and to returning customers.

2. Proof-read and check the spellings. Ensure that you have spelled everything correctly and that there are no grammatical mistakes. An article or web page littered with bad grammar and poor spelling will show visitors that you don't pay a lot of attention to your business.

3. Get other people to read what you've written. A fresh pair of eyes is great for spotting errors and giving feedback. Take their suggestions and use them to make the material better.

4. Have a consistent tone. It doesn't fill the user with confidence if the way that you address them changes on every page of your website. Define the style of your brand and either use the same writer to maintain consistency or an editor to provide a guiding hand for your writers.

5. Be creative. Think of ways to grab people's attention. Update your content regularly and give users a new experience every time they visit your website. It will make them more likely to keep coming back.
